Franklin Springs, GA – The Emmanuel Men's Basketball team opened up their season tonight against Newberry College as a part of the 2024 Conference Crossover. The Wolves jumped out to a strong lead, taking a 10-point lead into the half but the Lions would roar back, falling by six points, 81-75. With the loss, the Lions fall to 0-1 on the season.  

In the first half, the two teams went back and forth to start. The Wolves would go on an 18-7 run to lead by as much as 15 points. The Lions were 12-29 from the field (41.38%) and 8-14 from the free throw line (57.14%). At the half, the Wolves led by 10, 43-33. 

In the second half, the Wolves extended their lead to as much as 15 points. The Lions were 15-34 from the field (44.12%) and 4-13 from beyond the arc (30.77%). The Lions outscored the Wolves, 42-38 in the half but fell by a final score of 81-75. 

Four Lions ended the night in double figures scoring, with Tavarus Webb leading the way with 20 points. Kendall Latney had a double-double on the night, with 14 points and 11 rebounds, while Chris Dees added 11 points, and 4 assists and Elisee Ehuie had 12 points. 

Next up, the Lions will face Coker University in their final game of the Conference Crossover, tomorrow at 4PM.
