FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA – The Emmanuel Men's Basketball team hosted the Francis Marion Patriots in Conference Carolinas action this afternoon. In the first half, the Lions offense was slow to get started offensively, going 8-26 from the field and 2-9 from beyond the arc. The Patriots got off to a quick start, shooting 47% from the field and going 4-9 from three. Francis Marion would go into half with a 45-30 lead.
In the second half, the Patriots continued their offensive showcase, leading by double digits for most of the half but the Lions put up a fight, getting the game within one point with 2:53 to play on a three-pointer by
Tavarus Webb. The Patriots would close out the game on a run and would take the win in nailbiter fashion, 90-87.
KJ Jones II led the Lions in scoring with 31 points, 9 assists, 6 rebounds, a block and a steal.
Chris Dees contributed 17 points, 1 rebound, and 1 steal and
Tavarus Webb added 14 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and a block.
Kendall Latney had 13 points and 9 rebounds on the night.
Next up, the Lions will travel to Tigerville, SC to take on North Greenville on Tuesday at 7PM.
