FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA – The Emmanuel Men's Lacrosse team hosted Palm Beach Atlantic University today in non-conference action. After a close first period, the Sailfish scored seven goals in the second period and held onto the lead the rest of the way to take a 18-10 win. With the loss, the Lions fall to 0-2 on the season.
In the first period, Luke Hilderbrandt started things off for the Lions with a goal assisted by
Jared Weiss with 5:29 to play to give the Lions a 1-0 lead. The Sailfish responded with a goal of their own to tie things up at 1-1. Emmanuel answered back with a goal by
Tanner Park with 4:13 remaining in the first, assisted by
Ryland Laturell to take a 2-1 advantage. The Sailfish would score twice more in the final minutes of the first to take a 3-2 lead, but Emmanuel's
Jared Weiss would tie things up at 3 with :35 seconds left in the first.
The Sailfish offense got the second period started with a goal to take a 4-3 lead. Park responded with a goal in the 13
th minute of the 2
nd, assisted by
Ryland Laturell to tie things at 4. The Sailfish would score six unanswered goals to take a 10-4 lead, before Hilderbrandt scored in the final minute of the 2
nd, assisted by
Ryley Dowswell to make it 10-5 Sailfish.
The third period was back and forth, with the Sailfish scoring first, to take a 11-5 lead. Hilderbrandt scored his 3
rd of the day in the 10
th minute, assisted by
Tanner Park, to bring the Lions within five, 11-6. Palm Beach Atlantic scored again to make it 12-6, but the Lions had an answer. Hilderbrandt scored his fourth of the day in the 6
th minute, assisted by
Ryland Laturell to bring the score to 12-7. Thirty seconds later,
Ernest Hursey would make it 12-8. The Sailfish would end the third scoring three more times to make it 15-8 heading into the final period of play.
In the fourth, the Sailfish would start things off with two goals early in the period to take a 17-8 lead. Hilderbrandt would score his fifth of the day with 11:43 to play, assisted by
Ryland Laturell to make it 17-9. The Sailfish would score once more to make it 18-9, but Emmanuel would close out the game on a goal by
Jared Weiss with 2:20 to play, to make the final score 18-10, Sailfish.
Luke Hilderbrandt ended the night with five goals, with
Jared Weiss and
Tanner Park added two a piece.
