FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA – The Emmanuel Men's Volleyball played at home up against the Fort Valley St Wildcats. The Lions made things competitive and followed through to win the match in three sets, 25-19, 25-22, 25-22. With the win, the Lions improve to 2-8 on the season and 0-2 in conference action.
The first set saw the Lions jump out to an early 7-3 lead, but the Wildcats would go on a 4-0 run to tie things at 7-7. The Lions would use a few errors by the Wildcats to their advantage and get back out to an 8 -point lead, 18-12. The Lions would close out the set on a kill to win it, 25-19
The second set was a close one, with several ties and lead changes. The Lions would lead by as much as three mid-way through the set, but the Wildcats would respond by tying things at 20-20. The Lions would close out the set with a block finishing with a win 25-22.
The third set was similar to the second with the teams going point-for-point. Wildcats would tie things up at 20, but the Lions would prevail to win it 25-22.
Overall, the Lions had 44 kills, 42 assists, 31 digs, 7 blocks and 5 aces.
Eli Zdonek led the way for Emmanuel with 12 kills and two aces, while
Arturo Diaz-Dube contributed 10 kills
Abdallah Roshdy had 38 assists on the night and
Nicklas Eichenberger added 9 digs.
Greg Bodus had 5 blocks in the match.
