Lions Fall to North Greenville 79-62

Box Score TIGERVILLE, SC – The Emmanuel Women's Basketball team traveled to Tigerville, SC to take on the North Greenville Crusaders in Conference Carolinas play. The Crusaders got off to a hot start offensively and controlled the game the rest of the way, winning 79-62. With the loss, the Lions fall to 14-8 overall and 10-4 in conference action. 
 
In the first quarter of play, Emmanuel went on a 7-0 run to start the game. The Crusaders would follow that up with a 8-0 run of their own to take the lead, 8-7. The lead would change multiple times before North Greenville took a 17-16 lead with 3:04 to play in the first. The Lions were 5-18 from the field in the first quarter, making 2-5 from beyond the arc. After one, the Lions trialed 26-28. 
 
In the second quarter, the Lions shot 50% from the field, making 2-5 from three. Emmanuel got within one point of the lead on a layup by Naomi Roberts with 2:24 to play to make it 33-32, but the Crusaders would respond.  At the half, the Lions trailed by six, 38-32. 
 
In the third quarter, Emmanuel was 3-8 from the field, making 9-12 free throws. The Crusaders would expand their lead to double digits, leading 58-47 after three.
 
In the final quarter, the Lions were 4-9 from the field and 2-4 from three. Midway through the fourth, the Lions would get within eight points of the lead, but North Greenville would answer back. The Crusaders would take the win 79-62. 
 
Four Lions were in double figures scoring with Sydney Wyatt leading the way with 16 points and 8 rebounds. Maddie Futch added 14 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 steals. Tyasia Freeman contributed 11 points and 5 rebounds and Abby Crawford added 10 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals.
