FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA – The Emmanuel Women's Tennis team hosted #16 Georgia College today in non-conference action. The Lions struck first, winning the doubles point but the Bobcats would take 4 of 6 singles matches to earn a 4-3 victory. With the loss, the Lions fall to 2-4 on the season.
In doubles action, Emmanuel's #1 doubles team of
Darja Chistov and
Sabina Roua defeated Ashton Morrison and Jada Young, 7-5. At #2 doubles, Georgia College's Ashley Bentz and Chiara Santori defeated
Shatavisa Ghosh and
Tawana Senah, 6-1. At #3 doubles, Emmanuel's
Anna Goncalves and
Victoria Rodriguez won 6-2 to give Emmanuel the double's point and a 1-0 lead heading into singles matches.
SINGLES MATCHES:
#1 Singles – Emmanuel's
Alejandra Guerrero fell to Georgia College's Jada Young, 6-1, 6-2.
#2 Singles – Emmanuel's Soleny Gonzales fell to Chiara Santori in a close match, going three sets, winning the first 6-3, then losing 6-2, 6-4.
#3 Singles – Emmanuel's
Shatavisa Ghosh fell to Bobcat's Ashey Bentz in a competitive match, 6-4, 6-3.
#4 Singles – Emmanuel's
Darja Chistov fell to GCSU's Ashton Morrison in a close match that went three sets, losing the first 6-2 before taking the second 6-3 and falling in the third, 6-4.
#5 Singles – Emmanuel's
Victoria Rodriguez defeated GCSU's Shradha Chhabra 6-4, 7-6.
#6 Singles – Emmanuel's
Zyanya Rogel defeated GCSU's Bobcat's Alisa Chlang 6-4, 7-5.
