Lions Drop Close One To Lincoln Memorial 13-9!

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA – The Emmanuel Men's Lacrosse team hosted Lincoln Memorial University today in non-conference play. The Railsplitters would get out to an early lead and control the tempo of the game to take a 13-9 victory. With the loss, the Lions fall to 0-4 on the season. 
 
In the first period, the Railsplitters netted five goals to take a 5-0 lead going into the 2nd period of play. 
 
In the second, Lincoln Memorial continued to put the pressure on the Lions, scoring goals early to take a 8-0 lead, but Emmanuel would respond well. Jared Weiss got the scoring started for Emmanuel with a goal with 6:46 to play in the second, assisted by Luke Hildebrandt to get the Lions on the board, 8-1 LMU. Weiss would score his second goal of the game with 5:04 to play in the 2nd, assisted by Hildebrandt to make it 8-2 LMU. The Railsplitters would score their 9th goal of the game to take a 9-2 lead with 4:59 to play in the 2nd. Hildebrandt would answer back with a goal with 1:28 to play in the 2nd, to make it 9-3 LMU. LMU would tack on their 10th goal with 0:05 seconds to play in the 2nd to take a 10-3 lead going into the 3rd
 
To start the 3rd, the Railsplitters would score two early goals to take a 12-3 lead. Emmanuel would go on to score three goals in a row. Ryland Laturell got his first of the day with 8:06 to play in the 3rd to make it 12-4 LMU. Griffin Gibson-Thomas scored with 7:16 to play in the 3rd, assisted by Laturell to make it 12-5. Weiss would get back into the action, scoring with 5:36 to play in the 3rd, assisted by Hildebrandt to make it 12-6 to finish out the 3rd
 
LMU picked up their 13th and final goal to start the 4th to make it 13-6 early. The Lions would finish out the game scoring three goals in a row. Weiss added on his fourth of the night, scoring with 6:50 to play, assisted by Gibson-Thomas to make it 13-7. Laturell would score with 3:51 to play, assisted by Ryley Dowswell to make it 13-8 LMU. Laturell would score his final goal of the night with 2:20 to play, assisted by Gibson-Thomas to make the final score 13-9 LMU. 
 
Jared Weiss led the way for the Lions with four goals on the day, followed by Ryland Laturell who contributed three. 
 
The Lions will face Newberry College on Wednesday at 4PM.
