Game Recap: Men's Volleyball |

Lions Fall to Erskine 3-0

Franklin Springs, GA – The Emmanuel Men's Volleyball team hosted Erskine tonight in Conference Carolinas action. The Flying Fleet got off to a strong start, winning the first two sets 25-19, 25-20, and edging the Lions in a competitive third set, 30-28. With the loss, the Lions fall to 5-11 on the season, 2-5 in conference play.
 
The first set started out close with multiple ties and lead changes. The Lions would lead by as much as two, 13-11 but Erskine would answer back. Towards the end of the set, Erskine began to pull away at 18-17 by going on a 6-2 run to take the set, 25-19. 
 
In the second set, the Lions jumped off to an early 11-7 lead. The Flying Fleet would respond and tie things up at 12-12. Erskine would take the 16-14 lead after forcing an attack error and would continue a 6-0 run to take a 19-14 lead. The Lions would have an answer, but Erskine would win the set, 25-20. 
 
The third set saw the Flying Fleet jump out 3-1, but the Lions quickly respond. There were multiple ties and lead changes in the set. The Lions took a 17-16 lead on a service ace by Lucas Nieves, but the Fleet would tie things up again at 18. The rest of the way was back and forth, with the Fleet needing 30 points to take the set, 30-28 and the match 3-0. 
 
Overall, the Lions had 31 kills, 31 assists, 2 aces, 34 digs and 9 blocks. 
 
Lucas Nieves led the way with 13 kills on the night, with Aidan Feeney adding 10. Abdallah Roshdy contributed 28 assists, and he and Nieves each had an ace a piece. Greg Bodus led the way with 3.5 blocks and Nicklas Eichenberger contributed 12 digs.
