FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA – The Emmanuel Women's Basketball team hosted the UNC Pembroke Braves today in Conference Carolinas action. The Lions got off to a hot start, shooting 50% from the field right out of the gate, but the Braves offense started clicking in the second half and UNCP came away with a win, 58-51. With the loss, the Lady Lions fall to 13-7 on the season, 9-3 in conference play.
In the first quarter, the Lions came out firing on all cylinders. Emmanuel shot 6-12 from the field (50%) and 3-7 from beyond the arc. Senior,
Sydney Wyatt scored 12 points in the quarter and the Lions led 15-12 after one.
In the second quarter, Emmanuel got up by as much as 8 points on two occasions, but the Braves would mount a comeback and take their first lead of the game with 0:58 seconds to play in the half. At the half, Emmanuel trailed by one, 30-29.
In the third quarter, the Lions tied things up at 35 on a layup by
Makenzie Caldwell. The Braves would then go on a 7-0 run to extend their lead. The Lions shot 30% from the field in the quarter, making 4-6 from the foul line. After three, the Lions trailed 47-39.
In the final quarter of play, the Lions were 2-9 from the field, but made 6-10 from the foul line. Defensively, the Lions held UNCP to 11 points in the quarter, but in the end the Braves did enough to take a 58-51 victory.

Abby Crawford led the Lions in scoring on the day. Wyatt had 22 points, 3 rebounds and an assist while Crawford contributed 12 points, 2 rebounds and an assist. Senior,
Tyasia Freeman led the team with 7 rebounds.
