Lions Down Tusculum 3-0!

Franklin Springs, GA – The Emmanuel Men's Volleyball team was back in action tonight against Tusculum University in non-conference play. The Lions got off to a quick start and kept the momentum throughout the match to earn the win in straight sets, 25-20, 25-20, 25-13. With the win, the Lions improve to 9-16 on the season. 
 
In set one, the Pioneers got off to an early lead, 5-1. The Lions took their first lead of the set on a kill by Noah Langelier to make it 14-13. The two teams traded points and the lead multiple times until the Lions went on a 5-0 run late to make it 22-19. Emmanuel followed that up with a 3-1 run to take the first set, 25-20. 
 
Set two was back and forth at the start. The Lions went on a 4-0 run to take a 8-4 lead, but the Pioneers would respond to tie it at 8-8. With the Lions leading 10-9, Emmanuel would go on a 5-0 run to stretch their lead to 15-9. The Pioneers would go on a run to cut the Lions lead to 1, 16-15, but the Lions would close out the set strong to take it 25-20. 
 
In set three, the Lions were dominant from the start. An early 5-0 run would give Emmanuel an 8-2 lead. Midway through, the Lions would stretch their lead to 14-7. The Pioneers would cut the Emmanuel lead to 15-9, but the Lions would respond well by going on another 5-0 run to make it 19-9. Emmanuel would close out the set strong to earn the win, 25-13 and the game, 3-0. 
 
Overall, the Lions had 39 kills, 2 aces, 8 blocks, 36 assists, and 35 digs. 
 
Eli Zdonek led the way with 17 kills, while Arturo Diaz-Dube contributed 5 blocks on the night. Diaz-Dube and Greg Bodus each added an ace from the service line. Noah Langelier had 9 digs in the game, while Nicklas Eichenberger contributed 8. Abdallah Roshdy led the team in assists with 26.
