Lions Fall to Young Harris 6-4

Duncan, SC – The Emmanuel Softball team faced off against Young Harris in round two of the Conference Carolinas tournament. The Lions got off to a quick start, scoring three runs in the first inning, but the Mountain Lions would tie things up in the 5th and score two runs in the 6th to hold on for the win, 6-4.
 
 Ellee Varner got things started for the Lions with a single to start the 1st. Lexi Jordan followed that up with a single of her own to put runners on 1st and 2nd with no outs. Alyssa Adams took advantage, hitting a double up the middle to score two runs, giving the Lions a 2-0 lead. Jaryn Gibson kept things going with a single to score Ciarra Passmore (pinch runner) to give the Lions a 3-0 lead. 
 
The Lions added to their lead in the top of the 3rd inning. Isabel Harrison singled up the middle to start things off and Gabby Buffington brought her home with a double to make it 4-0, Lions. The Mountain Lions scored three runs on a hit in the bottom of the 3rd to cut the Lions lead to 4-3. 
 
There was nothing going for either team until the bottom of the 5th when Young Harris tied the game up at 4-4, scoring one run on two hits. 
 
The Mountain Lions took their first lead of the game in the bottom of the 6th, scoring two runs on three hits to make it 6-4, which would be the final score.
 
At the plate, four Lions tallied two hits apiece.
 
On the mound, Macy Kelley got the start throwing 2.1 innings. She gave up three runs on three hits, striking out two batter and walking two. Isabel Harrison relieved her throwing 3.2 innings. She struck out a batter and gave up three runs on 6 hits.  
 
The Lions will play tomorrow at 2PM.
