Franklin Springs, GA – The Emmanuel Men's Lacrosse team hosted Chowan University today in Conference Carolinas play. The Lions got off to a strong start, scoring 5 goals in the first period but the Hawks would answer back to take the lead in the 2
nd period and control the game the rest of the way to bring home a 17-12 win. With the loss, the Lions fall to 0-12 on the season.
In the first period, the Hawks got things started with a goal to take a 1-0 lead.
Ryland Laturell answered back with 11:59 to play in the period, assisted by
Kyle Lloyd to tie things up at 1. Chowan would retake the lead a minute later 2-1, but
Luke Hildebrandt would respond, assisted by
Tanner Park to tie things up again at 2-2, with 9:23 to play in the first. Hildebrandt found the net again with 6:55 to play in the first to make it 3-2, Lions.
Jared Weiss got into the action, scoring with 2:46 remaining in the period to make it 4-2, Lions. Chowan responded to make it 4-3, but
Ryland Laturell scored his second of the period with 1:38 to play, assisted by Weiss to make it 5-3.
The Lions kept the momentum going into the second period. Hildebrandt scored his third of the day with 14:24 to play in the period to make it 6-3, Lions. The Hawks would go onto score four in a row to take a 7-6 lead.
Ryley Dowswell tied things at 7-7 with 3:17 to play in the 2
nd. The Hawks would close out the period with a goal to go into the 3
rd period leading 8-7.
Chowan scored the first three goals of the third period to bring the score to 11-7. Hildebrandt responded with a goal with 7:45 to play in the period, assisted by Park to cut the Hawks lead to 11-8. Park was next to score for the Lions with 5:25 to play, assisted by Dowswell to make it 11-9, Hawks. Chowan scored two in a row to end the period leading 13-9.
Chowan opened the fourth period with a goal to take a 14-9 lead, but the Lions would respond with a goal by Hildebrandt to make it 14-10. Chowan scored to make it 15-10, but the Lions responded with back-to-back goals. Weiss scored with 7:49 to play in the game, assisted by
Kaden Flett to make it 15-11. Hildebrandt scored with 6:24 to play, assisted by
Griffin Gibson-Thomas to make it 15-12. The Hawks would score the final two goals of the game to bring home a 17-12 victory.
