Lions Beat Southern Wesleyan 82-76!

Central, SC – The Emmanuel Men's Basketball team traveled to Central, SC to take on Southern Wesleyan in conference play. SWU jumped out to an early lead, taking a 35-33 lead into the break, but the Lions responded well behind a career-high 29 points from freshman, Devin Story to take home an 82-76 victory. With the win, the Lions improve to 9-7 on the overall, 7-1 in conference play. 
 
Southern Wesleyan jumped out to a 10-2 lead early in the first. The Lions would respond well with back-to-back triples from Chris Dees to bring the game within one point, 17-16. A three by Isaac Jones gave the Lions the lead, 28-26 with 3:01to play in half, but the Warriors closed out the half strong to take a 35-33 lead into the break. In the half, the Lions shot 12-29 from the field (41%) and connected on 7-20 from three-point range. 
 
After the break, the Warriors came out strong pushing their lead to as much as nine points, 44-35. The Lions responded well, quickly taking over the lead on a layup by Kendall Latney with 11:48 to play, 51-50. The two teams traded points and the lead, until freshman, Devin Story put on a show putting up 18 of his 29 points in the final ten minutes of play. The Lions would close things out strong to bring home an 82-76 victory. 
 
Devin Story led the way for the Lions with a career high 29 points and 5 rebounds. Kendall Latney contributed 17 points, 7 rebounds, 3 steals and a block. Chris Dees added 14 points and Tavarus Webb had 8 assists.
