Franklin Springs, GA – The Emmanuel Women's Soccer team hosted Mississippi College in non-conference play this afternoon. It was a defensive battle from the start, with both team making key plays but neither finding the net. The game ended in a 0-0 draw. With the finish, the Lions stand at 3-6-2 on the season, 3-4-1 in conference play.
The first half saw the Choctaws outshoot the Lions, 11-2 with 4 shots on goal. The Lions had one shot on goal in the half by
Jimena Rivera. Emmanuel goalkeeper, Ana Ramirez Cortez ended the half with 4 saves in goal, and the two teams went into the break knotted at 0-0.
The teams continued to battle in the 2
nd half. The Choctaws led the Lions in shots, 8-5, but the Lions had 2 shots on goal. Rivera and
Emily Chavez each took a shot on goal, but neither found the net. Ramirez-Cortez grabbed one save in the half to finish with 5 on the afternoon, leading to a 0-0 draw.
Next up, the Lions will travel to Due West, SC to face Erskine College on Wednesday at 1PM.
