DUE WEST, SC – The Emmanuel Men's Soccer team traveled to Due West, SC this afternoon to face Erskine College in conference play. After a competitive first half with neither team finding the net, the Flying Fleet took a 2-0 lead early in the 2
nd half. The Lions responded well, scoring the final 3 goals of the game to take home a 3-2 victory. With the win, the Lions improve to 5-6-1 overall, 5-3-1 in conference action.
The first half was a defensive battle. The Flying Fleet outshot the Lions 9-1 with 5 shots on goal, but Emmanuel goalkeeper,
Bryan Amezcua came away with 5 saves to keep the game scoreless heading into the break.
Erskine took the lead early in the second half with a goal in the 51
st minute to go up 1-0. The Flying Fleet added to their lead six minutes later to go up 2-0. The Lions roared back with a vengeance with a goal at 61:40 by
Ignacio Doldan to cut Erskine's lead to 2-1. Doldan found the net for the second time at 67:58 to make knot the game at 2-2. At 70:34, Rexhis Koxhaj scored the game winner to make the final score, 3-2 Emmanuel.
Bryan Amezcua ended the night with 6 saves in goal.
Next up, the Lions will travel to Mount Olive, NC to face the University of Mount Olive on Saturday at 3:30PM.
