FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA – The Emmanuel Women's Soccer team hosted King University this afternoon for a Senior Day matchup. The Tornado took an early lead, but the Lions rallied to score twice before the break, taking a 2-1 lead into half. The Lions added a goal to their lead in the 2
nd to earn a 3-1 win. With the win, Emmanuel moves to 6-6-3 on the season, 6-4-2 in conference play.
King took the lead early in the first half to make it 1-0. The Lions responded well with a goal by
Brianna Nguyen at the 34:13 mark to knot the game up at 1-1. This was Nguyen's 6
th goal of the season.
Jillian Aldrich gave the Lions the lead on a penalty kick at 42:03 to go up 2-1 heading into the break. In the first half, the Tornado outshot the Lions 13-5 with 6 shots on goal. Emmanuel goalkeeper, Ana Ramirez Cortez ended the half with 5 saves in goal.
Sydne Stoker got in on the scoring action early in the second half to give the Lions a 3-1 lead at the 57:04 mark. In the half, King outshot the Lions 9-5 with 3 shot on goal. Rameriz-Cortez ended the half with 3 saves to give the Lions the 3-1 win.
Next up, the Lions will host Bob Jones University on Wednesday at 4:30PM.
