ROME, GA – The Emmanuel Men's Soccer team traveled to Rome, GA to take on the Shorter University Hawks in conference play tonight. The Lions jumped out to an early lead in the first half and added to it in the 2
nd to earn the 2-0 victory. With the win, the Lions move to 3-6-1 on the season, 3-3-1 in conference action.
Ignacio Doldan got things started for the Lions with a goal at 22:10, assisted by
Sergio Aspas to give the Lions a 1-0 lead. The Lions outshot the Hawks 6-1 in the half, with 3 shots on goal.
Quincy Howard ended the half with a save on goal and the Lions went into the half up, 1-0.
The Lions added to their lead in the 2
nd, with a goal by
Christian Mata at 58:56 to make it 2-0, Lions, assisted by
Sergio Aspas. In the half, the Lions outshot Shorter, 6-3 with 5 shots on goal. The Hawks cut the Lions lead to one, late with a goal in the 88th minute to make the final score, 2-1.
