Lions Defeat Erskine 86-52!

Franklin Springs, Ga – The Emmanuel Men's Basketball team hosted Erskine College tonight in conference play. The Lions jumped out to a lead early and controlled the pace of the game the rest of the way to earn a 86-52 win. With the win the Lions improved to 16-8 on the season, 14-2 in conference action.
 
The Lions jumped out to a 7-0 lead in to start things off with key plays by Elisee Ehuie, Jasper Gibson and Kendall Latney. Back-to-back three-pointers by Ehuie pushed the Lions lead to 15, 25-10 with 12:26 to play in the half. The Lions continued on a 15-0 run to balloon their lead to 40-12 with 4:29 to play in the half. Isaac Jones closed out the half strong for the Lions with two key three-pointers to give Emmanuel a 48-22 lead at the break. In the first half, the Lions shot 16-30 from the field (53.3%) and 11-22 from three-point range. 
 
After the half, the Lions quickly pushed their lead to 31 on a layup by Latney. A layup by Tavarus Webb put the Lions up 61-25 with 16:25 to play. The Lions would extend their lead to as much as 35 points in the 2nd half on a jumper by Austin Weiner, 72-37. The Lions shot 14-36 from the field in the 2nd half, connecting on 4-20 from three-point range. Several young players got key minutes on the night and the Lions came away with a dominant, 86-52 victory.
 
Five Lions ended the night in double figures scoring, with Kendall Latney leading the way with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Chris Dees went 4-9 from three-point range for 13 points and 5 rebounds on the night, while Elisee Ehuie added 12 points and 3 blocked shots. Tavarus Webb had 11 points and 8 assists on the night.
