Lions Down Trailblazers 82-57!


Franklin Springs, GA – The Emmanuel Men's Basketball team kept rolling this afternoon in a Senior Day showdown against the North Greenville Trailblazers. During pregame, seniors #2 Kendall Latney, #3 Elisee Ehuie, #7 John Kenoye, #13 Chris Dees, and #33 Jasper Gibson were recognized. The Lions jumped out to an early lead and controlled the pace of the game the rest of the way to earn a 82-57 victory. With the win, the Lions move to 17-8 on the season and 15-2 in conference.

The Lions jumped out to an early 7-2 lead on key plays by Kenoye, Latney and Ehuie. The Trailblazers responded to cut the Lions lead to 12-9 with 13:31 to play in the 1st but the Lions quickly answered. A quick 5-points by Ehuie pushed the Lions lead to 19-11 and the Lions continued on an 8-0 run to make it 22-11 with 8:26 to play in the half. Ehuie had 12 of his 18 points in the first half.   The Lions continued to roll, expanding their lead to 30-17 on a jumper by Tavarus Webb with 4:11 to play in the half. In the half, the Lions were 14-30 from the field (47%) and connected on 5-5 from the foul line. At the break, the Lions led 37-20. 

Both teams picked things up offensively in the 2nd half. The Lions quickly scored 5 points on jumpers by Latney and Webb to go up 41-20. The Trailblazers responded well, but the Lions pushed the pace and expanded their lead to 20, 46-26. John Kenoye was a problem for the Trailblazers on the glass, with 13 rebounds (7 offensive). The Lions were 4-9 from beyond the arc in the 2nd half, with key makes by Micah Roebuck and Issac Jones to help the Lions to a 60-33 lead with 10:48 to play. Several young Lions earned some key minutes in the 2nd half and showed the future of the program is bright. With 3:27 to play, a jumper by Jasper Gibson gave the Lions a 28-point lead, 72-44 which would be their largest lead of the night. In the half, the Lions shot 16-30 from the field and connected on 9-14 from the charity stripe. The Lions earned a 82-57 win to move to 15-2 in conference action. 

Four Lions ended the night in double figures scoring. Kendall Latney led the way with 19 points and 4 assists. Elisee Ehuie had 18 points and picked up 7 rebounds and 3 blocked shots. Tavarus Webb (11 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists) and Micah Roebuck (10 points) rounded out the leading scorers. John Kenoye led the way defensively with 13 rebounds. 

The Lions will be back in action on Wednesday as they travel to Rome, GA to take on Shorter at 7PM.
