Game Recap: Men's Volleyball |

Lions Fall to Barton 3-0

Franklin Springs, GA – The Emmanuel Men's Volleyball team hosted Barton College tonight in conference action. The two teams battled from start to finish, but the Bulldogs came away with a 3-0 win, 25-22, 25-18, 25-18. With the loss, the Lions fall to 1-15 overall, 0-6 in conference play.

In the first set, the Bulldogs jumped out to a 4-2 lead, but the Lions responded to tie things at 4 on a kill by Aidan Feeney and an ace by Lucas Nieves. The Lions would take an 8-5 lead on attack errors by the Bulldogs, but Barton would answer back to tie things at 13 midway through the set. The two teams traded points and the lead until Bulldogs took a 22-20 lead. The Lions would keep things close, but Barton would come away with a 25-22 set one victory.

Set two saw the two teams trade points to start. The Bulldogs would pull away 15-7 but the Lions would respond with kills by Feeney and Thijs Van der Wal to cut the lead to 20-15. Barton would close the set out strong to win it, 25-18. 

Emmanuel took an early 3-1 lead in set three. The Bulldogs would respond to tie things at 3, and the two teams would trade points and the lead. Barton took the lead on a 7-0 run to make it 12-8 and would push their lead to 18-11 late. Kills by Feeney and Andrew Michael would cut into Barton's lead to make it 21-17, but the Bulldogs would finish off the set 25-18 to earn the 3-0 win. 

Overall, the Lions had 34 kills, 33 assists, 1 ace, 40 digs, and 4 blocks.

Aidan Feeney led the way with 20 kills and 12 digs on the night. Oliwer Wrobel had 29 assists, with Lucas Nieves adding an ace. Thijs Van der Wal led the team with 1.5 blocks on the night, with Wrobel and Andrew Michael each contributing 1.0 block a piece.
