Lions Down Young Harris 92-71!

Young Harris, GA – The Emmanuel Men's Basketball team traveled to Young Harris, GA tonight to take on the Mountain Lions of Young Harris College. The Lions started the game strong on both ends of the court, taking a 41-26 lead into the break. After half, both teams shot well, but the Lions lead was too much for the Mountain Lions to come back from. The Lions came away with a 92-71 victory to move to 14-8 on the season and 12-2 in conference play.
 
The Lions jumped out to an early 13-4 lead behind big plays from Chris Dees and Tavarus Webb. Young Harris quickly cut the Lions lead to 15-9, but the Lions responded well with plays by Jasper Gibson and Dees to push the lead back up to 10, 23-13. The Lions continued a 13-2 run, behind Webb and Isaac Jones to make it 36-15 with 5:02 to play. In the first half, the Lions shot 15-23 (65%) from the field and 8-10 from three-point range. At the break, the Lions lead 41-26. 
 
After half, the Mountain Lions started out hot, cutting the Lions lead to 55-47 with 14:03 to play. The Lions responded well with an 11-0 run fueled by plays from Kendall Latney and Dees. A three by Isaac Jones with 10:37 to play extended the Lions lead to 20 points, 69-49. Both teams shot well in the 2nd half, with the Lions going 19-26 from the field (73%) and 8-11 from three-point range (72%). Chris Dees was a perfect 5-5 from beyond the arc, with Isaac Jones connecting on 5-6. The Lions controlled the pace of the 2nd half, exploding for a 92-71 victory. 
 
Five Lions ended the night in double figures scoring, with Tavarus Webb leading the way with 20 points and 8 rebounds. Chris Dees had 19 points on the night and 5 assists, while Kendall Latney contributed 18 points and grabbed 2 steals. Isaac Jones had a big game with 15 points, while Elisee Ehuie added 12 points. The Lions ended the night shooting 69.4% from the field and 76.2% from three-point range.
