Lions Down Barton 87-71!

Franklin Springs, GA – The Emmanuel Men's Basketball team hosted the Barton College Bulldogs this afternoon in conference play. The two teams competed well in the 1st half, with several ties and lead changes. The Lions got into a rhythm midway through the 1st and took a 36-26 lead into the break. In the 2nd half, the Lions were 68% from the field and came away with an 87-71 victory. With the win, the Lions improve to 15-8 on the season, 13-2 in conference action.
 
The Bulldogs jumped out to an early 7-4 lead in the 1st, but the Lions responded well to quickly take the lead, 8-7 on a layup by Kendall Latney. After tying things at 14-14, the Lions went on a 6-0 run, including jumpers by Elisee Ehuie and Micah Roebuck to make it 20-14, Lions. A three-pointer by Chris Dees put the Lions up by 7 with 3:48 to play in the half, 29-22, but the Bulldogs responded well to get within three points of the lead, 29-26. The Lions responded well to close out the half on a 7-0 run to take a 36-26 lead into the break. In the first half, the Lions shot 38% from the field and connected on 5-7 from the foul line. 
 
After half, Chris Dees caught fire from three, connecting on three in a row from beyond the arc to give the Lions a 49-33 lead. A jumper by Ehuie extended the Lions lead to 21 points with 13:03 to play, 57-36. The Lions were 21-31 (68%) from the field in the half and connected on 5-9 from three-point range. Chris Dees led the way, scoring 16 of his 25 points in the 2nd half. The Lions got up by as many as 25 points late in the half and ended up winning the matchup by 16, 87-71. 
 
Four Lions ended the night in double-figures scoring. Chris Dees led the way with 25 points, connecting on 6-11 from beyond the arc. Tavarus Webb had 16 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists on the night, while Elisee Ehuie added 14 points and 6 rebounds. Kendall Latney rounded out the Lions leading scorers with 11 points and 8 rebounds.
