Lions Fall to Lander 26-9

Greenwood, SC – The Emmanuel Men's Lacrosse team traveled to Greenwood, SC tonight to take on Lander University in regional play. The Bearcats got out to an early lead and controlled the pace of the game the rest of the way, earning a 26-9 win. With the loss, the Lions fall to 0-2 on the season.
 
In the first quarter, the Bearcats got off to a quick start scoring two goals in the first minute of play. They went onto take a 10-0 run into the 2nd period after outshooting the Lions, 21-7. 
 
The Lions got on the board early in the 2nd period with a goal by Everett Muratori at the 11:11 mark to make it 10-1, Bearcats. Tanner Park kept things going for Emmanuel with a goal at 10:23, assisted by Jared Weiss to make it 10-2, Bearcats. Joshua Fodchuk found the net with 9:35 to play in the 2nd, assisted by Weiss to cut the Bearcat's lead to 10-3. Lander added to their lead to make it 11-3 with 8:43 to play before the break, but the Lions responded well with a goal by Weiss assisted by Griffin Gibson-Thomas to make it 11-4. The Bearcats scored the next three to make it 14-4 at the half. 
 
To start the third period, Ryland Laturell grabbed a goal for the Lions at the 14:34 mark to make it 14-5. Tanner Park kept it going for the Lions with a goal at 13:53 to cut the Bearcats lead to 14-6. The Bearcats responded with four unanswered goals to end the third period up 19-6.
 
The Bearcats kept their scoring run going in the fourth period, finding the net four time to go up 23-6. Ernest Hursey got Emmanuel back on the board with 9:21 to play, assisted by Luke Hildebrandt to make it 23-7. Luke Hildebrandt was next to score for the Lions with 8:33 on the clock, assisted by Fodchuk to make it 23-8. The Bearcats scored the next two to go up 25-8, but Laturell responded with a score with 2:40 to go to cut the lead to 25-9. The Bearcats tacked on one more in the final minutes of play to end the game with a win, 26-9. 
 
Tanner Park and Ryland Laturell each had two goals on the night, while Jared Weiss led the way with two assists.
