Franklin Springs, GA – The Emmanuel Men's Lacrosse team hosted the Davis & Elkins Senators today in non-conference play. The Lions jumped out to a big lead, taking a 12-5 advantage into the half. The Lions continued to control the pace of play in the 2
nd half, to earn a 24-8 victory. With the win, the Lions improve to 1-2 on the season.
The Senators scored first to take a 1-0 lead early in the 1
st quarter.
Joshua Fodchuk responded by finding the net with 13:03 to play in the first, assisted by
Ryland Laturell to tie things at 1. The Senators scored the next two to take a 3-1 lead, but
Tanner Park responded well with a goal at the 9:59 mark, assisted by
Jared Weiss and again at the 9:14 mark, to tie things at 3-3.
Luke Hildebrandt kept things going for the Lions with a goal at 8:17 assisted by Laturell to make it 4-3, Lions. Fodchuk scored his second of the day with 4:03 to play in the first to give the Lions a 5-3 advantage.
Tanner Park kept things going for the Lions in the 2
nd quarter with a goal at 13:23 assisted by
Griffin Gibson-Thomas to push the Lions lead to 6-3. With 12:18 to play in the 2
nd, Weiss found the net, assisted by Fodchuk to make it 7-3, Lions.
Ryley Dowswell got into the action with 11:29 to play in the 2
nd to make it 8-3. Gibson-Thomas added a goal at 11:15, assisted by Weiss to put the Lions up 9-3 and
Luke Hildebrandt scored his second of the day with 9:33 to play in the 2
nd, assisted by Laturell to give the Lions a 10-3 lead. The Senators scored the next two to cut the Lions lead to 10-5, but the Lions responded well with consecutive goals by Gibson-Thomas with 45 seconds to play, assisted by Fodchuk and with 23 seconds to go, assisted by Weiss to make it 12-5, Lions heading into the break.
In the third quarter, the Lions kept things going. Park scored with 13:38 to play assisted by Fodchuk to make it 13-5, Lions.
Graeson Amundson found the net with 12:18 to play in the 3
rd, assisted by
Ethan Hildebrandt to make it 14-5. Dowswell scored his second of the day with 11:56 to play in the quarter to give the Lions a 10-goal lead, 15-5. Laturell was next at the 11:34 mark assisted by
Luke Hildebrandt to give the Lions a 16-5 lead. The Senators made it 16-6 with 10:07 to play in the quarter, but the Lions responded well with a goal by
Luke Hildebrandt with 9:11 to play in the third, assisted by Weiss to give the Lions a 17-6 lead. Dowswell scored his third of the day with 8:28 to go in the third, assisted by
Everett Muratori to make it 18-6, but the Senators scored with 4:58 to cut the lead to 18-7.
Luke Hildebrandt capped off a strong quarter for the Lions with a goal at the 3:16 mark, assisted by
Cole Stachniak to make it 19-7.
The fourth quarter started out with a goal by Fodchuk with 13:44 to play , assisted by Laturell to make it 20-7, Lions. Park grabbed his fifth goal of the day with 13:05 to play , assisted by Gibson-Thomas to make it 21-7. The Senators responded with a goal to make it 21-8, but Park added his sixth score with 9:08 to go, assisted by Weiss to make it 22-8. Fodchuk finished the quarter strong for the Lions with a goal at 7:48, assisted by Weiss to make it 23-8 and another goal at 6:31 to make the final score 24-8, Lions.
The Lions were led by
Tanner Park who had a career high, 6 goals on the day, while
Joshua Fodchuk added a career high, 5 goals.
Luke Hildebrandt,
Griffin Gibson-Thomas and
Ryley Dowswell each picked up three scores a piece.
Jared Weiss led the way with 6 assists on the afternoon while
Grady Magruder had 11 saves in goal.
