EMORY, VA – The Emmanuel Men's Lacrosse team traveled to Emory, VA today to take on the Emory & Henry Wasps in non-conference action. The Lions jumped out to an early lead, taking a 6-1 lead into the half. The Lions exploded for 10 goals in the 4
th quarter to earn a 20-3 victory. With the win, the Lions improve to 4-3 on the season.
Tanner Park got the Lions on the board with 12:25 to play in the first quarter, assisted by
Ryland Laturell to give the Lions a 1-0 lead.
Jared Weiss got in on the action at the 9:51 mark, assisted by
Luke Hildebrandt to make it 2-0, Lions. L. Hildebrandt made it 3-0, Lions with 8:56 to go in the quarter, assisted by Weiss.
Ryley Dowswell closed out the quarter, scoring with 8:00 to play to give the Lions a 4-0 lead.
Dowswell opened up the 2
nd quarter with a goal at the 10:02 mark, assisted by Laturell to give the Lions a 5-0 lead. The Wasps responded with a goal to make it 5-1, but the Lions answered back with 6:13 to play before the break with a goal by
Joshua Fodchuk, assisted by
Griffin Gibson-Thomas to make it 6-1, Emmanuel.
L. Hildebrandt started the third quarter with two consecutive goals to give the Lions an 8-1 lead. Laturell got in on the action with 7:00 to play in the third, assisted by
Tanner Park to make it 9-1, Lions. With 22 seconds to play in the 3
rd, L. Hildebrandt found the net again, assisted by Weiss to make it 10-1, Lions.
The Lions exploded for 10 goals in the final quarter of play.
Tanner Park got things going with a goal at the 13:12 mark, assisted by L. Hildebrandt to make it 11-1. Hildebrandt grabbed his fifth goal of the night with 12:12 to go to push the Lions lead to 12-1, and Laturell added another goal in the 11
th minute, assisted by
Graeson Amundson to make it 13-1. With 8:54 to go, Gibson-Thomas made it 14-1 and he scored again with 6:54 to go, assisted by Laturell to make it 15-1. The Wasps scored the next goal to cut the lead to 15-2, but the Lions would close the game out strong. Fodchuk made it 16-2 with 4:44 to play, assisted by Amundson. Park scored next, with 4:02 to play, assisted by Weiss to give the Lions a 17-2 lead. Gibson-Thomas grabbed his third goal of the night with 3:34 to go to make it 18-2, and Park picked up another score for the Lions with 2:55 to play, assisted by
Alan Quaid to make it 19-2.
Cole Stachniak scored the final goal for the Lions with 2:33 to go to put the Lions up 20-2, but the Wasps responded with a goal to make the final score, 20-3 Lions.
Luke Hildebrandt led the Lions with 5 goals on the afternoon, adding 2 assists.
Tanner Park had 4 goals and
Griffin Gibson-Thomas added 3.
Jared Weiss and
Ryland Laturell led the Lions with 3 assists apiece.
