MURFREESBORO, NC – The Emmanuel Men's Lacrosse team traveled to Murfreesboro, NC to face the Chowan University Hawks in conference play. The Lions jumped out to an early lead, taking a 10-3 lead into halftime. The Lions continued to control the pace of the game, coming away with a 17-9 victory and moving to 6-3 on the season. The Lions now sit at 1-1 in conference action.
Jared Weiss got the Lions on the board in the first minute of play to go up 1-0.
Luke Hildebrandt picked up where he left off to make it 2-0, Lions with 12:41 to play in the first, assisted by
Ryland Laturell. The Hawks grabbed a goal to cut the Lions lead to 2-1, but the Lions responded well, scoring the next two. Laturell found the net with 1:17 on the clock, assisted by Weiss to give the Lions a 3-1 lead. Hildebrandt scored his second of the day, assisted by Graeson Amudson with 15 seconds to play in the quarter to end it 4-1.
The second quarter began with a goal by the Hawks to cut the Lions lead to 4-2. The Lions answered with a 3-0 run.
Cole Stachniak was first to score at the 10:39 mark, assisted by
Kaden Flett to make it 5-2, Lions. Weiss scored his second with 7:03 to play in the quarter, giving the Lions a 6-2 lead. With 5:58 to go until the break,
Kaden Flett scored to make it 7-2, Lions. The Hawks answered to cut the lead to 7-3, but the Lions responded with a goal by Weiss with under 4 minutes to play until half, assisted by
Joshua Fodchuk to make it 8-3, Lions. Laturell scored with 51 seconds to play until half and Fodchuk found the net with 15 seconds to play until the break, assisted by Laturell to make it 10-3 at the break.
Tanner Park started the scoring out for the Lions in the 3
rd quarter with a goal at 13:58 to go up 11-3. Chowan responded to make it 11-4, but Hildebrandt scored his third to make it 12-4, Lions with 9:06 to play in the third. Chowan scored the next four to cut the Lions lead to 12-8, but Hildebrandt closed out the quarter strong with a goal with 58 seconds to play, assisted by
Ethan Hildebrandt to make it 13-8.
Hildebrandt got things started for the Lions in the 4
th quarter with a goal at 11:04, assisted by Laturell to give the Lions a 14-8 lead. Fodchuk was next to score with 10:42 on the clock, assisted by Hildebrandt to make it 15-8. The Hawks answered to cut the Lions lead to 15-9, but the Lions scored the final two goals of the game, first by Fodchuk, assisted by
Griffin Gibson-Thomas with 3:43 to play and finaly by Laturell with 1:02 to go to make the final score, 17-9.
Luke Hildebrandt led the Lions with five goals on the day.

Ryland Laturell each contributed three goals, with Laturell leading the Lions in assists with three.
The Lions will be back in action on Saturday, March 22 at 1PM in Wilson, NC where they'll face the Barton Bulldogs in conference action.
