MILLEDGEVILLE, GA – The Emmanuel Baseball team traveled to Milledgeville, GA this afternoon to take on the Bobcats of Georgia College & State University. The Bobcats got out to an early lead and held off a late run by the Lions to earn a 10-6 victory. With the loss, the Lions fall to 12-16 on the season.
The Lions got on the board first in the the top of the 1
st.
Dee Oliver started things off with a single to left field and advanced to 2
nd on a wild pitch.
Brock Wollin followed that up with a single to center field to score Oliver, giving the Lions a 1-0 lead. The Bobcats responded in the bottom half of the inning to score 2 runs on 3 hits to take a 2-1 lead.
The Bobcats added a run on 2 hits in the bottom of the 2
nd, to make it 3-1.
After a few scoreless innings, the Lions got back to work in the top of the 5
th. Oliver singled to left, advancing to 3
rd on a passed ball.
Landon Mokris followed that up with a one-out single to left field to score Oliver, cutting the Bobcats lead to 3-2. The Bobcats added to their lead in the bottom half of the inning, scoring 2 runs on 3 hits to make it 5-2.
Nick Madrigal got the 6
th inning started with a double down the left field line.
Andrew Ferguson came in to pinch run for Madrigal and quickly advanced to 3
rd on a wild pitch. Ferguson scored on another wild pitch to make it 5-3, Bobcats.
In the bottom of the 7
th, the Bobcats broke the game open with 4 runs on 2 hits and an error to make it 9-3.
The Lions answered back in the top of the 8
th.
Dobbs Bowden got things going with a 2-out walk. Muniz kept the inning going with a single to advance Bowden to 3
rd. Oliver singled to left field to score Bowden, cutting the Bobcats lead to 9-4. After both runners stole a base, Wollin laced a double to center field to score Muniz and Oliver to make it 9-6, Bobcats. The Bobcats added a run to their lead in the bottom of the 8
th to make the final score 10-6.
At the plate,
Dee Oliver led the way going 3-4 with 3 runs scored, while
Brock Wollin went 3-5 with 3 RBI's.
On the mound,
Noah Olson got the start, going 2.0 innings and giving up 3 runs on 5 hits, striking out 2 batters.
Jake Renuart relieved him to throw 3.0 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 3 hits and struck out 3 batters.
Bubba Luke came in next to throw an inning, walking 3 batters and striking out 2.
Zakk Gibbons faced 5 batters and gave up 3 runs, walking 2 batters and striking out 1.
Kody Collins closed out the game for the Lions, throwing 1.1 innings and giving up 2 runs on 4 hits.
