Box Score Belmont, NC – The Emmanuel Men's Lacrosse team traveled to Belmont, NC to face the Belmont Abbey Crusaders in conference play. The matchup was competitive to start, but the Crusaders pulled away in the 2
ndhalf to earn the 14-6 victory. With the loss, the Lions fall to 8-6 on the season, 3-4 in conference action.
The Lions opened up the scoring with a goal by
Joshua Fodchuk (assisted by Luke Hildebrant) at the 11:07 mark to give the Lions a 1-0 lead.
Tanner Park found the net less than a minute later, assisted by
Ryland Laturell to make it 2-0 Lions. The Crusaders got on the board to make it 2-1, Lions, but Emmanuel quickly answered with a goal by Hildebrandt assisted by Laturell to give the Lions a 3-1 lead. The Crusaders closed out the scoring in the 1
st quarter, going on a 2-0 run to tie the game at 3-3 heading to the 2
nd.
The Crusaders continued their scoring run in the 2
nd quarter, outscoring the Lions 5-0 to take an 8-3 lead heading into halftime.
The Crusaders scored the first two goals in the 3
rd quarter to make it 10-3, Belmont Abbey. The Lions bounced back with a goal by Laturell to cut the Crusaders lead to 10-4. The Crusaders closed out the quarter with a goal to take an 11-4 lead heading into the 4
th.
The final quarter of play kicked off with a goal by the Crusaders to give Belmont Abbey a 12-4 lead. The Lions responded with a goal by
Jared Weiss to make it 12-5, but the Crusaders scored the next two to take a 14-5 lead. Weiss scored the final goal of the game, assisted by
Griffin Gibson-Thomas to make the final score 14-6, Belmont Abbey.
Jared Weiss led the way with 2 goals for the Lions while
Ryland Laturell added 2 assists on the night.
Nick Pilon had 14 saves on the afternoon.
