BANNER ELK, NC – The Emmanuel Women's Soccer team traveled to Banner Elk, NC this afternoon to take on the Bobcats in conference play. The home team got on the board in the first half to take a 1-0 lead into the break and added to their lead late in the second to earn the 2-0 win. With the loss, the Lions fall to 1-4 on the season, 1-2 in conference play.
The first half began as a defensive battle. The Bobcats outshot the Lions, 9-2 with 6 shots on goal. At the 32:33 mark, the Bobcats found the net to take the 1-0 lead heading into the half. In the first half, Emmanuel's goalkeeper, Ana Ramirez Cortes had 5 saves.
The second half began like the first, as a defensive battle. Both teams had great looks, with the Bobcats taking 6 shots on goal to the Lions 3. At the 84:21 mark, the Bobcats added to their lead to make the final score 2-0.
Ramirez Cortes ended the game with 10 total saves to lead the Lions.
Jillian Aldrich led the Lions with 2 shots on goal.
Next up, the Lions will host the Erskine College Flying Fleet on Tuesday at 4:30PM.
