Franklin Springs, GA – The Emmanuel Men's Soccer team hosted Erskine College tonight on Firefighter Appreciation Night. The Lions took an early 1-0 lead in the first minute of play. Emmanuel added three more scores to their lead in the second half to earn the 4-1 victory. With the win, the Lions improve to 2-5 overall, 2-2 in conference action.
The Lions opened up the scoring early with a goal by
Sergio Aspas in the first minute of play to make it 1-0 Lions. The remainder of the first half was a defensive battle with neither team finding the net. The Flying Fleet outshot the Lions, 7-5 in the first half, with both teams taking 2 shots on goal. The Lions took a 1-0 lead into the break.
Emmanuel wasted no time in the 2
nd half, with
Christian Mata finding the net in the 48
th minute, assisted by
Fernando Carvalho and
Alex Walker to make it 2-0, Lions. Three minutes later,
Rezhis Koxhaj tacked on another score to the Emmanuel lead making it 3-0, Lions.
Sergio Aspas found the net for the second time tonight, scoring at the 62:21 mark to make it 4-0, Lions. Erskine cut into the Emmanuel lead in the 77
th minute to make the final score 4-1, Lions.

Jackson Gallegos had 3 saves on the night and
Sergio Aspas led the way with 2 goals and 4 shots on goal.
The Lions will be back in action on Saturday at 3PM as they host Barton College in conference play.
