Lions Fall to Lincoln Memorial 3-0

Box Score HARROGATE, TN – The Emmanuel Men's Volleyball team continued their road trip with a matchup against the Lincoln Memorial University Railsplitters. LMU took an early lead, winning the first two sets, 25-15. The Railsplitters closed out the game with a 25-17 win in set three to earn the sweep, 3-0. With the loss, the Lions fall to 0-2 on the season. 

Lincoln Memorial jumped out to an early 6-2 lead in the first set but kills by Thijs Van der Wal and Greg Bodus quickly made it 7-4, Railsplitters. LMU pulled ahead to take a 12-6 lead midway through the set, but a kill by Aidan Feeney and consecutive service errors by the Railsplitters made it 14-9, LMU. LMU followed that with a 6-1 run to make it 20-10, and they closed the set strong to earn the 25-15 win.

The two teams traded points and the lead early in the second set. The Lions jumped out to a 3-1 lead on kills by Feeney and blocks by Van der Wal and Matthieu Bataille. A kill by Feeney and an ace by Van der Wal put the Lions up 7-6, but LMU responded with four straight kills and an error by the Lions to put the Railsplitters up 11-8. A kill by Elek Cumming and an attack error by LMU put the Lions within a point of the lead, 11-10 but the Railsplitters answered with a 10-1 run to go up 21-11. LMU closed the set strong to earn the 25-15 win in set two. 

LMU carried their momentum into set three, taking an early 9-3 lead. The Lions respond well with blocks by Cumming and Bataille to cut the Railsplitters lead to 9-6. Midway through the set, LMU led 17-9, but the Lions answered with kills by Feeney and a block by Bodus to make it 21-15, LMU. The Railsplitters closed out the set on a 4-2 run to earn the set win, 25-17 and the game 3-0. 

Aidan Feeney led the Lions with 8 kills on the night. Greg Bodus picked up 3 blocks, with Elek Cumming and Matthieu Bataille contributing 2 each. Cumming and Bo Moore led the team in digs with 5 each,
