Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Lions Earn Statement Win over Shorter 6-1!

The Emmanuel University Women's Soccer team delivered an electric performance against Shorter University this afternoon, securing a commanding 6-1 victory behind an explosive offensive attack. The Lions controlled the pace of the game from the opening minutes, putting constant pressure on the Hawks defense and finding the back of the net six times.

The Lions wasted little time getting on the board. In the 11th minute, McKenzie Carrier opened the scoring with an assist from Cailyn Robinson, giving the Lions an early lead. The offense continued to apply pressure, and Ava Bushby doubled the advantage in the 40th minute off an assist from Jillian Aldrich. Just two minutes later, Shorter's Gianna Estavillo found the net, sending the teams into halftime with Emmanuel leading 2-1.

The Lions returned from the break with renewed intensity, quickly reestablishing control. In the 51st minute, Aldrich finished a play set up by Bushby to extend Emmanuel's lead to 3-1. Emily Chavez added another goal in the 65th minute, pushing the advantage to three and keeping the Lions firmly in command.

With momentum fully on their side, Emmanuel continued to attack. Bushby struck again in the 76th minute, this time assisted by Jimena Rivera, before Kamryn Simmons capped off the scoring just 41 seconds later with an assist from Aldrich. The back-to-back goals showcased the Lions' offensive rhythm and brought the final score to an emphatic 6-1.

The numbers reflected Emmanuel's dominance. The Lions recorded 33 shots across both halves, including 18 in the second half alone, while earning nine corner kicks. Their relentless attacking pressure kept Shorter on the defensive throughout the contest.

From Carrier's early breakthrough to the late flurry of goals, Emmanuel delivered a complete team performance filled with energy, execution, and offensive firepower. The six-goal outburst marked a statement victory for the Lions, who turned a competitive first half into a decisive win after the break.

Next up, the Lions will host Young Harris College on Saturday at 2PM. For more information on Emmanuel University athletics, visit goeulions.com.
