Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Lions Down Emory & Henry 20-10!

Franklin Springs, GA – The Emmanuel Men's Lacrosse team hosted Emroy & Henry University this evening in non-conference action. The Lions jumped out to an early lead taking a 11-2 lead into halftime. Four Lions ended the game with three goals and the Lions closed out the game strong to earn the 20-10 win. With the win, the Lions improve to 1-4 on the season, with Head Coach Mark Destro earning his first career win as a Lion. 

Ryland Laturell got the Lions on the board, assisted by Everett Muratori scoring at the 14:22 mark to take a 1-0 lead. The Wasps tied things up a minute later at 1-1 but Laturell found the net for the second time in the first period, assisted by Cole Stachniak to give the Lions a 2-1 lead. The Wasps answered to make it 2-2, but Erik Lichtner roared back to score the next two goals, one assisted by Braden Weeks to close out the period with the Lions up 4-2. 

The Lions carried their momentum into the 2nd period, opening it up on a 7-0 scoring run. Devin Gardner got things going, scoring at the 14:13 mark to make it 5-2, Lions. Laturell grabbed his third goal of the game at 12:49, assisted by Lichtner to make it 6-2, Lions and Ryley Dowswell got in on the action, assisted by Muratori to make it 7-2. Cole Stachniak was next two score, finding the net twice in the 2nd period, assisted by Laturell and Grant Anderson to put the Lions up 9-2. Muratori and Dowswell each scored unassisted goals to close out the period with the Lions up 11-2. 

The Wasps grabbed the first goal in the third period to cut the Lions lead to 11-3. Braden Weeks responded with a goal at the 8:47 mark, assisted by Muratori to make it 12-3, Lions. The Wasps scored the next three to cut the Lions lead to 12-6, but Gabe Melendez scored, assisted by Stachniak to make it 13-6. Lichtner found the net for the second time on the day to put the Lions up 14-6 to end the period.

 The fourth period saw the Lions add to their lead on a goal by Dowswell, to push the Emmanuel lead to 15-6. The Wasps scored the next two to make it 15-8, but the Lions responded with a goal from Tristen Cuda to put the Lions up 16-8. Stachniak scored his third goal with 8:09 to play assisted by Cuda to make it 17-8, Lions and AJ Quaid scored 15 seconds later, assisted by Josh Williams to put the Lions up 18-8. Melendez scored at the 5:51 mark assisted by Laturell to make it 19-8, but the Wasps tacked on the next two goals to cut the Lions lead to 19-10. Grant Anderson scored the final goal of the game to give the Lions the 20-10 victory.

Four Lions ended the night with three goals, Erik Lichtner, Ryland Laturell, Ryley Dowswell, and Cole Stachniak. Everett Muratori ended the night with 3 assists, while Nick Pilon ended the night with four saves in goal.

Next up, the Lions will host Lander University  on Wednesday at 5PM.
