Young Harris, GA – The Emmanuel Softball team traveled to Young Harris, GA today to take on the Young Harris College Mountain Lions in conference action. The Mountain Lions got on the board first in game one to take a 4-1 lead, but the Lions responded well, scoring two runs late but falling 4-3. In game two, the Mountain Lions controlled the pace of the game, earning the 8-0 win.
GAME ONE
The Lions threatened in the top of the first, loading the bases with 2 hits but a strikeout ended the at bat, with no runs scoring. The Mountain Lions responded well, scoring 3 runs on 4 hits and an error in the bottom of the 1
st to take a 3-0 lead.
The Lions answered in the top of the 2
nd.
Kelsey Lester doubled to start off the at-bat.
Grace Ausborn kept things going, hitting a single and advancing to 2
nd to score a run, cutting the Young Harris lead to 3-1.
The Mountain Lions added a run on 2 hits to their lead in the bottom of the 4
th to go up 4-1.
Two runners got on base for the Lions in the top of the 5
th, but a pop up and a strike out ended the at-bat with no runs scoring.
In the top of the 6
th, the Lions bats got to work.
Jacie McCall walked to start off the inning, and she advanced to 2
nd on a passed ball.
Grace Ausborn followed that up with a single to left field and
Ciara Passmore laced a two-out double to left to score two runs, cutting the Young Harris lead to 4-3 which would be the final score.
At the plate,
Grace Ausborn and
Ciara Passmore went 2-3. Ausborn collected an RBI and a run scored, with Passmore adding 2 RBIs.
In the circle,
Autumn Matherly got the start, giving up 4 runs (3 earned) on 11 hits.
GAME TWO
After a scoreless first inning, the Mountain Lions got on the board with 2 runs on 2 hits in the bottom of the 2
ndto take a 2-0 lead.
The Lions threatened in the top of the 3
rd, loading the bases but a groundout ended the at-bat. The Mountain Lions tacked on 2 runs on 2 hits in the bottom of the 3
rd to make the score 4-0, Young Harris.
The Mountain Lions pushed their lead to 8-0 in the bottom of the 4
th, scoring 4 runs on 4 hits and an error which would be the final score.
At the plate,
Ciara Passmore went 2-3.
In the circle,
Reagan Beagle threw 3.0 innings and gave up 4 runs on 4 hits, walking 2 batters.
Quinn Overby relieved her to throw 1.0 inning. She gave up 4 runs on 4 hits, walking 2 batters.
