Franklin Springs, GA – The Emmanuel Softball team hosted division-leader Southern Wesleyan in conference action this afternoon. The Warriors got off to a hot start, taking game 1, 7-0. The Warriors carried that momentum into game 2 to earn an 11-2 victory.
GAME ONE
After a scoreless first, the Warriors got on the board in the top of the 2
nd, scoring 2 runs on 3 hits to take a 2-0 lead. The Lions threatened in the bottom half of the inning, getting two runners on board, but a groundout ended the inning with the Warriors leading 2-0.
In the top of the 3
rd, SWU added 5 runs to their lead on 6 hits to make it 7-0.
The Lions threatened in the bottom of the 5
th, with two runners getting on base, but a foul out and a pop up ended the inning with SWU leading, 7-0 which would be the final score. At the plate, four Lions picked up a hit.
In the circle,
Autumn Matherly threw 2.2 innings. She gave up 7 runs on 8 hits, walking a batter.
Addison Hendrix closed the game pitching 4.1 innings. She gave up 4 hits and walked 2 batters.
GAME TWO
The Warriors jumped out to an early lead in game 2, scoring 7 runs on 4 hits and 2 errors in the top of the 1
stto take a 7-0 lead. The Lions answered in the bottom half of the inning.
Arlie Gooden walked to start things off and
Ciara Passmore went yard to score two runs, making the score 7-2, Warriors.
SWU tacked on 2 runs in the top of the 2
nd on 2 hits to make the score 9-2.
In the top of the 3
rd, the Warriors added a run on 3 hits to push their lead to 10-2.
The Warriors added a run in the top of the 4
th to go up 11-2.
The Lions would threaten in the bottom of the 5
th, getting a runner on but a strikeout ended the inning and the game, giving the Warriors the win, 11-2.
At the plate,
Ciara Passmore picked up a hit and 2 RBIs.
In the circle,
Reagan Beagle gave up 3 runs on a hit.
Quinn Overby took the loss, throwing 2.2 innings. She gave up 7 runs (6 earned) on 8 hits. She walked 2 batters.
Addison Hendrix closed the game, pitching 2.1 innings. She gave up a run on 2 hits.
