Lions Drop Series to UNC Pembroke

Franklin Springs, GA- The Emmanuel Softball Lions hosted UNC Pembroke this afternoon in conference action. The Braves took an early lead in game one, but the Lions battled back late, but the Braves took the game 4-2. In game two, the Braves earned the 5-0 win. 
GAME ONE

The Braves got on the board first in game one, scoring 3 runs on 3 hits in the top of the 1st inning.

The Lions responded in the bottom of the 3rd. Shelby Rinefierd reached on an error to get things started. After a walk to Grace Ausborn, Arlie Gooden reached on an error to load the bases. Ciara Passmore took advantage of the situation, hitting a single to drive in a run, making the score 3-1, Braves. Ausborn scored to cut the Braves lead to 3-2. 

The Lions threatened in the bottom of the 4th, with two runners getting on board, but a groundout ended the inning with UNCP leading, 3-2.

The Braves added a run in the top of the 7th on a hit and an error to take game one, 4-2.

At the plate, Ciara Passmore collected a hit and an RBI. 

In the circle, Autumn Matherly got the start going 7.0 innings. She gave up 4 runs on 5 hits, walking 3 batters and striking out 1. 

GAME TWO

The Braves jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in game two, scoring 4 runs on 4 hits in the top of the 2nd. 

UNCP added a run on a hit in the top of the 4th to make it 5-0. The Lions threatened in the bottom of the 4th, with Arlie Gooden and Carson Stowe collecting a hit, but a groundout ended the inning. 

Ciara Passmore singled in the bottom of the 6th and Stowe walked to put two runners aboard, but a pop out ended the inning with the Braves up, 5-0. 

The Lions got two runners on base in the bottom of the 7th but couldn't get a run across and the Braves took game two, 5-0. 

At the plate, Carson Stowe went 2-2. 

In the circle, Reagan Beagle pitched 4.0 innings. She gave up 5 runs (4 earned) on 7 hits. She walked 3 batters. Quinn Overby relieved her to throw 3.0 innings. She walked a batter.

Next up, the Lions will travel to Augusta, GA for a two-game series on Tuesday against Augusta University. The first pitch will be at 2PM, with the second game following directly after.
