Box Score 2 Augusta, GA – The Emmanuel Softball team traveled to Augusta, GA this afternoon to face the Augusta University Jaguars in regional play. The Jaguars got off to an early lead in game one and held onto earn the 7-1 victory. Augusta carried the momentum into the second game, earning the 8-0 win.
GAME ONE
The Lions threatened early in the top of the 1
st with a single by
Arlie Gooden and a hit by pitch to put two runners on base, but a pop up ended the at-bat. The Jaguars responded, scoring four runs on three hits and an error in the bottom half of the 1
st to take a 4-0 lead.
The Lions loaded the bases in the top of the 3
rd, with two walks and a hit by pitch, but a strikeout ended the inning with the Jaguars still up, 4-0.
The Lions got on the board in the top of the 5
th.
Ciara Passmore walked to put a runner on 1
st with 2 outs. She advanced to 2
nd on a throwing error and scored on a single by
Carson Stowe to make the score 4-1, Jaguars. The Jaguars answered, scoring 2 runs on 2 hits in the bottom of the 5
th to make the score 7-1, Augusta.
The Lions threatened again in the top of the 6
th with a single from
Kelsey Lester and a walk to Gillan Price, but a groundout ended the at-bat.
The Jaguars took game one, 7-1.
At the plate, three Lions collected a hit with
Carson Stowe adding an RBI.
In the circle,
Autumn Matherly got the start going 3.0 innings. She gave up 4 runs (3 earned) on 5 hits and walked 2 batters.
Reagan Beagle relieved her to pitch 2.0 innings. She gave up 2 runs on 3 hits. She walked a batter and struck one out
Quinn Overby closed out the game in the circle, throwing 1.0 inning and giving up a run on a hit. She struck out a batter.
GAME TWO
In the top of the 1
st, the Lions came out swinging with
Grace Ausborn and
Arlie Gooden getting on base with singles, but two groundouts and a pop up ended the at bat.
In the bottom of the 2
nd, the Jaguars got on the board scoring a run on 2 hits and an error to take a 1-0 lead.
The Jaguars added to their lead in the bottom of the 3
rd, scoring 5 runs on 5 hits to take a 6-0 lead.
After a scoreless 4
th inning, the Lions threatened in the top of the 5
th with a single by
Vic Epps, but a groundout ended the at-bat with the Jaguars up 6-0. In the bottom of the 5
th, Augusta added 2 runs on 3 hits to take an 8 -0 lead which would be the final score.
At the plate, four Lions collected a hit.
In the circle,
Quinn Overby got the start, going 3.0 innings. She gave up 6 runs on 7 hits and walked a batter.
Reagan Beagle closed the game in the circle, throwing 1.1 innings and giving up 2 runs on 3 hits.
Next up, the Lions will travel to Bristol, TN to face King University on Friday. First pitch will be at 1PM with game two following at 3PM.
