GREENVILLE, TN – The Emmanuel Softball team traveled to Greenville, TN to face Tusculum University in non-conference action. The Pioneers took game one, 15-1 and carried their momentum into game two to earn the 12-0 win.
GAME ONE
The Pioneers took an early lead in game one, scoring 2 runs on 2 hits in the bottom of the 1
st to go up 2-0.
The Lions responded in the top of the 2
nd, loading the bases.
Carson Stowe walked to start things off and
Kaylee Purvis singled to 2
nd base to advance Stowe to 2
nd.
Shelby Rinefierd singled to short to load the bases and a walk to
Dezarea Hillery scored a run to cut the Pioneer lead to 2-1. Tusculum answered quickly, scoring 7 runs on 5 hits to push their lead to 10-1.
Arlie Gooden picked up a single up the middle in the topo of the 3
rd and stole 2
nd, but a strikeout ended the at-bat. In the bottom of the 3
rd, Tusculum picked up a run on 2 hits to make it 11-1.
In the bottom of the 4
th, the Pioneers added to their lead, scoring 4 runs on 3 hits to take a 15-1 lead which would be the final score.
At the plate, three Lions picked up a hit with
Dezarea Hillery picking up an RBI.
In the circle,
Autumn Matherly got the start going 1.0 inning. She gave up 6 runs on 4 hits and walked 3 batters.
Addison Hendrix relieved her to face 7 batters. She gave up 4 runs on 3 hits and walked 3 batters.
Quinn Overby closed the game, pitching 2.2 innings. She gave up 5 runs on 5 hits, walking 3 batters and striking out 3.
GAME TWO
The Pioneers carried their momentum into game two. Tusculum took the lead in the bottom of the 2
nd, scoring 2 runs on 3 hits to take a 2-0 lead.
The Lions picked up a hit from
Arlie Gooden in the top of the 3
rd, but she was thrown out at 2
nd in a fielder's choice to end the at-bat. The Pioneers added 3 runs on 4 hits in the bottom of the 3
rd to take a 5-0 lead.
In the top of the 4
th,
Autumn Matherly hit a double to left center, but she was left on base. In the bottom of the inning, the Pioneers scored 7 runs on 5 hits to take a 12-0 lead which would be the final score.
At the plate,
Autumn Matherly went 2-2 with a double.
In the circle,
Reagan Beagle got the start throwing 3.0 innings. She gave up 5 runs on 7 hits, walking a runner and striking out 4.
Addison Hendrix relieved her to face 9 batters. She gave up 7 runs on 4 hits and walked 3 batters.
Quinn Overby closed the game, facing 2 batters giving up a hit and walking a batter.
Next up, the Lions will travel to Bristol, TN to face King University on Tuesday for a conference doubleheader. First pitch is set for 1PM.
