CLINTON, MS – The Emmanuel Women's Soccer team opened up their season on the road at Mississippi Christian University this afternoon. The Choctaws struck first, scoring in the 17
th minute but Lions goalkeeper, Ana Ramirez Cortes shined in the final 70 minutes, collecting 11 saves to make the final score, 1-0.
The Choctaws outshot the Lions 11-1 in the first half, with 6 shots on goal. Ramirez Cortes picked up 5 saves in the first to lead the Lions, with
Reagan Hill taking the Lions sole shot on goal in the 38
th minute.
Following halftime, the Choctaws stayed on the offensive with six shots on goal. Ramirez Cortes continued to shine in goal with 6 saves in the half. Freshman defender,
Kamryn Simmons played 81 minutes in the game and tallied a shot on goal in the 64
th minute.
The Choctaws held on to make the final score, 1-0. With the loss, the Lions drop to 0-1 on the season.
Next up, Emmanuel will travel to Morrow, GA to face Clayton State University on Sunday at 3PM.
