Marta Rozados Barreiro is an international student-athlete from Vigo, Spain. 
“I started playing tennis when I was 13 years old, which is late compared to many other players,” says Marta Rozados, captain of the women’s tennis team. Although she found her passion later than she expected, that did not stop her from signing with Emmanuel College to pursue her dreams.
Halfway through completing her junior year, Marta is studying a career in Biology which she has found to be her professional calling. Meanwhile, she is also a member of the tennis team, the student leadership academy, and the eco club.
“Coming to Emmanuel College means to work hard, give your 100%, and push through your fictitious mental limits,” Marta explains.
As a member of the tennis team, she feels very lucky to have found a tennis program that is both very complete and competitive. “Our coach has lots of knowledge in many areas that surround tennis,” Marta adds, “we are taught about tennis, fitness, nutrition, and having the right mindset through life.”
Although the time management conflicts and sacrifices that most student-athletes face during their career are severe, Marta assures that “Emmanuel College is a dream come true, a second family working together to achieve the same goal.”
Marta loves challenges, which is why after she graduates, her plan is to attend graduate school and obtain a Ph.D. in genomic medicine. Moreover, she wants to reach to all future international student-athletes and encourage them to live this amazing experience at its best.
