Julia Ramos is an international tennis player from Sydney, Australia. 
“I have lived in Sydney my whole life,” explains Julia, “my parents moved from the Philippines before I was born.”
Julia is the younger sister out of three siblings, which is why she has always followed her big brother’s steps. “After having tried many other sports, my brothers tried tennis and all of our family fell in love with the sport,” says Julia.
Following the example of his brothers, Julia started to play tennis when she turned 11. “I have always enjoyed tennis,” explains Julia, “it is the one thing that really challenges me in all aspects; physically, mentally, and even in life.”
Half-way through her sophomore year, Julia is a member of both the Women’s Tennis Team and the Mental Health Awareness Club. Meanwhile, she is also pursuing a career in Kinesiology with a concentration in physical therapy. 
Julia loves to call herself a student-athlete. Although she recognizes that it can be overwhelming at times, she has come to enjoy meeting people who share similar goals and have a daily structure that makes her feel productive. 
She is very grateful for her experience at Emmanuel College which has taught her about many things in life. “I have learned that the best athletes are not made only through hard work and practice but by something deep inside them - a desire, a dream, a vision.”
Julia likes challenges, which is why after she graduates, she plans to stay in the United States and complete a master’s in physical therapy or athletic training. Moreover, she wants to reach to all future international student-athletes and encourage them to prepare for the unexpected and be ready to get out of their comfort zone.
