Lions Plan to Bounce Back After Tough Weekend

ANDERSON, SC - Losing a double header against Anderson University on Friday and another two losses on Saturday against Georgia Southwestern was frustrating for the Lady Lions this weekend but a rough start to the season means greater things are to come. With faith, the team will refer to the message in the book of James saying:

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

With the right joyful mindset the team can leave the past behind them and focus on what's ahead. Persevering through the early challenges will guide these outstanding athletes forward to bounce back for a stronger showing in the near future.

There were definitely some highlights on Friday in SC with two of our Lady Lions adding to our team home runs at a total of six now. In the opener, with two outs in the top of the 4th, Kalen Callaway sent a towering dinger over the center field wall. Then in the final game of the day, Bethany Campbell sent the 2nd with a shot over the right field fence to cut the opponent's lead in half.

With a few hours rest, the Lions drove across the state to Americus, GA on Saturday where they faced Georgia Southwestern. The team put together a stronger showing against the hosts taking a 1-0 lead in the 4th inning. However, after a few unfortunate situations, the opponents went in the lead. Kalen Callaway, Bethany Campbell and Holly Springer all ripped doubles for the Lions with Jorden Williams and Halle Cheek adding RBI's.

In the final game of the weekend, the Lady Lions had the early 2-1 lead, but in the 4th inning GSW had a three run home run to take the lead for good. Looking at the bright side, the Lions out hit the Canes 6 to 4 with hits from Linsey Hearn, Kaley Callaway, Samantha Ely, Martie Rogers and two from Bethany Campbell. As the pitcher, Martie helped her cause by hitting a double down the left field line in the 4th.

The Lions travel to one more road series in the month of February when they go head to head against Truett-McConnell.

Beginning this coming Friday the 27ththe Lions will be at HOME. They personally invite you to come and watch how their perseverance and hard work will pay off before your eyes as they face Belmont Abbey at 5:00 and 7:00 to open up their conference schedule. Go Lions!
