FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga - The Lions Split with Point University.

The Emmanuel Lions Softball Team dropped their 1st game of their double header against Point University, 6-1 on Saturday. The game was delayed due to weather, but it didn't slow down the Skyhawks as they scored two quick runs in the top of the first. EC had scoring opportunities through the game, but couldn't get the right hits at the right time to score base runners.

In the second game, the Lions were the first to score with a roar in the second inning. Bethany Campbell led off with a base hit. Khelsea Salyers sacrificed Campbell over into scoring position. Linsey Hearn then ripped an RBI single into right field scoring Campbell, giving the Lions a 1-0 lead. The Skyhawks fought back in the top of the 5th when Taylor Jackson hit a full count screwball over the centerfield fence; with two on base, giving the Skyhawks a 3-1 edge. Even though it was late in the game, the Lions kept their heads up. In the bottom of the 5th, after two sharp singles by Holly Springer and Kalen Callaway, Bethany Campbell stroked a 2-0 pitch, 220 ft. out of the park to give the Lions a 4-3 lead. In the bottom of the 6th, Holly Springer stepped up as a senior and hit a rocket over the outfield wall for her second home run of the season, scoring herself and two on base.
Leah Ritchhart got the start and was excellent on the mound for 5 full innings. Hannah Perry came in to pitch in the 6th and held the Skyhawks to only one more run, making the final score 7-4. Ritchhart got the win and Perry got the save. Both pitchers kept the opponents off balance throwing a variety of speeds and pitches. Ritchhart stated, "My catcher, Hayden Barlett, was calling pitches very wisely and was constantly encouraging which helped both pitchers succeed. It was good to get a victory!"

The Lions next game is Tuesday the 24th against Lees-McRae at 6:00 & 8:00pm. Come out and support if you can! To God be the Glory!
