Box Score MOUNT OLIVE, Nc – The Emmanuel Women's Basketball Lady Lions dropped a conference match against the Mount Olive Trojans with a final score of 58-77.
Ajah Taylor came off the bench to score 10 points for the ladies. The Trojans held a tight defense against the Lady Lions keeping action from happening on their side of the game.
Mount Olive had an early lead 7-0 when Lochlain Corliss broke the silence with a 3-pointer. Mikayla Trombley came through with a bucket to take tie the game with the Trojans and then taking the lead after two free throws. The first quarter ended with the Lady Lions up 13-12. The second quarter began quickly for the ladies as Hanna Grogan landed a jump shot to increase the lead. Emily Dreslinski had a major play with a steal leading Hope Forrester in for a jump shot. The Lady Lions maintained a 10-point lead going into the third quarter up, 24-34.
The ladies started out ahead and it did not take long for Mount Olive to catch up and take the lead, 35-36. Hanna Grogan pulled the ladies back in with a 3-pointer pushing them up by 2 points. With two minutes left in the third quarter, the Trojans made back-to-back shots and were given free throws from the Lady Lions. The Trojans were walking into the fourth quarter up by ten, 46-56. The fourth quarter started with a layup by Genesis Jones after a minute of play time. Mount Olive came right back with a 3-pointer. The ladies played tough defense in the fourth quarter but did not score enough to catch up to the Trojans. With a minute left, the Trojans were up 56-75. Taylor Delasbour was fouled and sank her shots, but the game ended with a 12-point loss for the ladies.
The Lady Lions now hold an overall record 13-9, with a conference of 8-8. They ladies will be at home on Saturday, February 17th welcoming Southern Wesleyan at 2:00 PM.
