Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga – The Emmanuel College softball team played their season opener on the road against the Lander University Bearcats on Tuesday. The Lady Lions lost both games in the double header, 4-1 and 7-0.

The first game saw the Lady Lions get out-hit 7-2 as Lander's sophomore pitcher Ashley Vinson didn't allow a single hit in the first six innings. Emmanuel's senior pitcher Madison Hopper allowed 7 hits, 4 of which resulted in runs for the Bearcats. In the top of the seventh inning, Noelle Petty scored a run to put Emmanuel on the board. However it wasn't enough as the Bobcats closed out the game, 4-1.

Game two was dominated by Lander's Peach Belt Conference pitcher of the week, freshman Abby Killian. The Lady Lions didn't get a single hit as Killian's 12 strike-out performance was her career best. Killian was the first pitcher in the Bearcats NCAA history to throw a perfect game.

Emmanuel's freshman pitcher Madison Abell allowed 5 runs in 4.1 innings before being replaced by senior Alannah Long. Long allowed the Bearcats to score two more runs before the game came to a 7-0 finish.

The Lady Lions will face Queens University in their home opener on Friday, February 8th at 1pm and 3pm.
