Women's Tennis Continue Conference Run With Win Over Lees-McRae

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. — The Emmanuel College women's tennis team wrapped up their weekend matches against Lees McRae College. The Lions defeated the Bobcats 5-2.

After a conference win on Friday, the Lions were looking to keep their undefeated streak alive with a win against the Bobcats.

Number 3 doubles composed of freshman Marta Rozados and senior Katharina Kiderlen played a solid game and defeated their opponents 6-2.

Doubles number 1 composed of senior Chloe O'Connor and Fantine Botella followed their teammates as they also played an offensive game style which led them to a 6-2 win.

Doubles number 2 composed of Maria Raich and Pearllan Cipriano used their consistency and pouching at the net to defeat their opponent 6-3. 

The Lady Lions were up 1-0 heading into singles.

Playing #1 singles was Senior Fantine Botella who used her aggressive forehand to dominate the game against her opponent. Botella defeated her opponent 6-3, 6-3.

Number 5 singles was played by Freshman Lauren Castillon who had a tough start dropping the first set 6-4. The second set was different as Lauren used her solid backhand to take the set 6-3. Unfortunately, she couldn't clinch the third set as she fell 6-2. 

Singles #3 was Freshman Marta Rozados. Rozados lost the first set 6-0. In the second set, Marta started well as she was up 2-0 but her opponent came back to lead up until 5-4. At 5-4 Rozados finally broke her opponent and won the second set 7-5. In the third set, Rozados used patience and an aggressive style to finish the match 6-4 in the third. 

Playing #2 singles was Senior Pearllan Cipriano who was challenged with several drop shots. Cipriano kept her composure and won the match 6-3, 6-3.

Number 4 singles was Junior Maria Raich who played really aggressive from the baseline. Without any difficulty, Raich dominated her opponent 6-0, 6-0.

Singles #6 was Victoria Silva who played a pro set until 8 as the match was already clinched in favor of the Lady Lions. Silva was unable to defeat her opponent and fell 8-3.

The Lady Lions finished the day with a 5-2 win against Lees McRae College. 

EC's Women's Tennis Team will be back on the road Wednesday, March 27th to face Shorter University.
