FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga - The Emmanuel College women's basketball team took on the University of Mount Olive Trojans on Saturday afternoon. The Lions defeated the Trojans, 54-49, moving their record to 15-6 overall and 12-3 in conference.

The Trojans controlled the first quarter, building up a seven point lead in the first ten minutes of play, 17-10.

The Lions couldn't make much progress in the second quarter as the Trojans increased their lead to 12 points, 30-18.

Emmanuel outscored the Trojans in the third quarter, but only by 2 points. After thirty minutes of play, Mount Olive held a double digit lead, 42-32.

Despite trailing nearly the entire game, the Lions began clawing their way back within reach in the final quarter. With just under a minute remaining, junior Breanna Locke made 4 consecutive free throws after a foul and technical foul to tie the game, 47-47. Still on the offense, Locke quickly converted another layup to steal the lead. As the Trojans made their way back up the court, Junior Sydney Nash blocked a jump shot and Locke secured the rebound before being immediately fouled. Lock converted both free throws, giving the Lions a four point lead, 51-47. More free throws from junior Mari Jonassen and Locke sealed the comeback for Emmanuel as they won the game, 54-49.

Breanna Locke led the way for the Lions, recording another double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds. Sophomore Jazmin Allen followed with 14 points and 8 rebounds.

Next up, women's basketball will take on Southern Wesleyan University at home on Wednesday, February 5th.
