FLORENCE, S.C. - The Emmanuel College softball team dropped both of their games on Saturday afternoon at the Swamp Fox Sizzler hosted by Francis Marion University.

GAME #1

The Lady Lions had 4 hits, 2 RBI's, 3 runs and drew 1 walk in their 5-3 loss to Frostburg State. Lexie Tallent, Abbey Sims, and Ryanne White each had one double. Mackensie Hogan hit a single.

Dani Fairey faced 21 batters in six innings, allowing 4 hits and recording 1 strikeout. 

The Frostburg State Bobcats captured an early four run lead in the 1st inning. Despite EC's best effort, the Lions were unable to overcome their deficit and fell 5-3.

GAME #2

In their second game of the day, EC Softball took on tournament host Francis Marion. The Lions recoded 5 hits, 1 RBI and drew 1 walk. Abbey Sims notched a home run, Caitlin Parks, Ryanne White, Isabelle Petty, and Giorgia Russell each singled. 

Madison Abell pitched 7.2 innings for the Lions and faced 29 batters. Abell recorded 1 strikeout and allowed 6 hits.

In the top of the fifth inning, Sims homered down the left field line to pull the Lions ahead 1-0. The Patriots responded in the sixth inning by tying the game at 1-1 after a double down center field. Both teams remained scoreless for the rest of the game, resulting in a tie breaking eighth inning. Despite a player automatically being placed on 2nd base, EC was unable to score. The Patriots had a sac bunt to move their runner to third. One final single through the right side brought in their runner and gave Francis Marion the 2-1 victory.

Next up, the Lions wrap up play at the Swamp Fox Sizzler with another game against Frostburg State tomorrow at 10am.
