FLORENCE, S.C. - Emmanuel softball wrapped up competition at the Swamp Fox Sizzler with an 8-0 sweep over Frostburg State on Sunday afternoon.

The Lady Lions picked up 8 runs, 7 hits, 7 RBI's and drew 4 walks in their 8-0 win over the Bobcats. Abbey Sims notched 3 RBI's with her home run. Caitlin Parks and Mackensie Hogan each recorded a double. Ally Harris, Lexie Tallent, Ryanne White, and Noelle Petty each had a single. Parks and Maret both tallied 2 RBI's.

Madison Abell earned her second win on the season after facing 23 batters in seven innings. Abell had 3 strikeouts while allowing 4 hits, 0 runs and 2 walks.

The Lions got on the board early after a double from Parks brought in Tallent and Maret, boosting EC to a 2-0 lead. 

In the top of the third, Tallent and Parks got on base by capitalizing on Frostburg errors. Sims would step up to the plate and homer to left field advancing EC to a 5-0 lead. Noelle Petty would then single to left field before Alexis Costlow stepped in as her pinch runner. Hogan was then walked, advancing Costlow to second base. A ground out from Meredith Reece followed, but not before advancing everyone forward 1 base. Another walk and fielding error from the Bobcats allowed EC to bring in 2 more runs before the end of the inning. 

In the top of the fifth, Hogan would have one more run for the Lions starting with a double to left field. A wild pitch allowed her to advance to third base before Maret grounded out, allowing Hogan to run in.

Next up, EC softball will take on Clark Atlanta at home on Thursday, February 27th at 2:00pm.
