Baseball loses opening day to Georgia College

Box Score Franklin Springs, GA - The Lions hosted their opening season game against the Georgia College in a single matchup against the Bobcats this afternoon.


Emmanuel College watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 4-2 loss to Georgia College on Wednesday.  Georgia College took the lead on a sacrifice fly in the first inning. 
Emmanuel College lost despite out-hitting Georgia College eight to four. In the first inning, Georgia College got their offense started when Mason Spivey's sac fly scored one run for Georgia College. Mason Brown toed the rubber for Georgia College. The lefty allowed three hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out two. Ryan Smith was on the hill for Emmanuel College. The pitcher surrendered one run on one hit over four innings, striking out three and walking one.  Ethan Pooler, Miles Dodds, and Tyler Mayfield each contributed in relief for Emmanuel College. Emmanuel College scattered eight hits in the game.  Brody Campbell and Thomas Collins each had multiple hits for Emmanuel College.  Campbell led Emmanuel College with three hits in five at bats. Ben Tuten went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Georgia College in hits.


The Lions will travel to Florida to face off against Eckerd College this weekend for a three game series. The first game is set for Friday with a first pitch time of 6:00pm.
